I'm three papers and 7 days away from graduating with my JD in law and MA in higher education... then my whirlwind summer begins! Miami, Phoenix, NYC, family reunion in Minneapolis, and 53 days of wandering around Europe all by my lonesome.* I cannot wait. It's so close I can touch it, and yet... these three papers won't write themselves (I know this because one of them has been due for a year now, and it certainly hasn't written itself yet...). If there was ever a time to kick it into high gear and just get something over with, this is it.
I'm not even officially done with law school yet, but I already feel better than I have in 3 years. I feel lighter than air.... even though law school has led to weight gain, chronic back pain, and poor eyesight. But psychologically at least, I feel like I'm finally back to my old (young) pre-law self... before I learned to "think like a lawyer." People say law school is a marathon, but it felt more like a 3-year long sprint. There are a lot of things I could have done better, but also I lot of things I could have done worse. I take comfort in knowing that no one will (probably) ever ask me what I got on my 1L Contracts exam (fingers crossed, knock on wood, and all that stuff).
SO, with this first post, I'm celebrating the beginning of the end of law school. Or the beginning of life after law school. what a great thing :)
*oh yes, I also have that pesky little matter of the bar exam to take care of. I wrote this entire post without remembering that part. I really hope it doesn't get in the way of my summer plans... hehehe
